What file formats does AssemblyAI support?
You can transcribe over a dozen audio and video file formats directly with the API, and without having to do any transcoding before sending the audio/video files to our API. You can read here for a full list of supported file formats!
How many files can I transcribe in parallel?
Once you add a credit card to your account, or if you are on a free trial, you can transcribe up to 32 files in parallel. If you are on a free plan, you can transcribe a single (1) file at a time. This limit is called your throttle limit. The API will accept as many files as you submit, but it will queue them all and transcribe as many in parallel as it can given your throttle limit. If you need a higher limit than 32, please contact us using the chat in the bottom right of this page or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The status of my transcription has been "queued" for a long time
If you submit a bunch of files to the API for transcription at once, it will only work on N in parallel - where N equals the value of the throttle limit on your account. Once you add a credit card to your account, or if you are on a free trial, you can transcribe up to 32 files in parallel. If you are on a free plan, you can transcribe a single (1) file at a time. If you are seeing your transcription with a status of "queued" for a long time, most likely you have submitted more files for processing than can be worked on in parallel. In this case, the API will queue all of your transcriptions and will complete them as fast as possible, transcribing N in parallel - where N equals the value of the throttle limit on your account.
How quickly does AssemblyAI transcribe my files?
On average, turnaround time is roughly 15-30% of the audio file's duration, with a minimum processing time of around 20-30 seconds.
What languages are supported?
At this time, AssemblyAI supports English and all accents and dialects of English.
